The Air Jordan 37 is the latest from the renowned MJ sneaker series, one that we’ll have a closer look at today and review its features. This style debuted in 2022 with the “Beyond Borders” colorway that we actually came across later that year. Jordan brand has been coming up with performance enhanced basketball shoes for this retro line and this last design stays on the same trend. Inspired by the Air Jordan 7 silhouette, the AJ 37 is packed with the ultimate technology from Nike, making it one of the best shoes you can wear on the court nowadays.

How They Fit

The shoes come in an atypical, fancy white box that even has a sleeve with a new take on the usual 23 branding. The look of the shoe is something quite debatable, with many liking it and others not so much, understandable being the very high expectations for a sneaker from this line and at such a premium price of $185. They fit true to size and fit well even if you have  wider feet. If you want them to feel more snug you could go a half size down if you have a regular width but normal size should be just fine. They feel comfortable out of the box while the outsole grip may need a bit of time to get used to and get the best of, especially on the indoor court. Upper

The upper of the Air Jordan 37 features a Lenoweave material which looks a bit cheap for the price you pay for these but it compensates with superior breathability to any other shoe on the market. They feature a synthetic support material for the Lenoweave throughout that goes all the way to the heel area. Here, much like the AJ7 there is a neoprene extension to the heel area which features some cushion pads. In essence the shoe would be a low top without this extension which does not add a whole lot of support to the shoe as true hi top would. All in all the upper is not very exciting in aesthetics but it boosts performance for sure.

Sole Unit

The sole unit is the more exciting part of the Air Jordan 37, something to expect from a performance basketball shoe. The heel area features the new Formula 23 foam which is covered by a quite solid rubber cup sole. This is the same technology that was used for the sole midsole of the Luka 1. For this reason the cushion in this area is relatively low, the shoe being designed for the heel strikes energy to be moved forward to the double stacked Zoom unit in the forefront thru the mid carbon fiber shank plate. The result is high compression and bounciness in the forefoot which many will enjoy. What we noticed as we were doing this Air Jordan 37 review is that the feet feel somewhat off the court, something that is looking for more responsiveness from a shoe may not like. The brand looked to enhance the airborne explosiveness with setup and they surely succeeded. This is mainly to the double stacked Zoom Air and Zoom Air Strobel units which deliver next level energy return. The outsole pattern is one resembling fingertips patterns with thick grooves that deliver great traction especially on indoor courts while being quite durable.

Bottom Line

To include our Air Jordan 37 review, this is surely one of the best performance shoes on the market today. It does not have an exciting look but in terms of technology used it is a remarkable shoe, certainly a step forward in the development for making the ideal basketball shoe. Like many of the latest from this series it does not have the glow of the 80’s-’90 retros but it makes up for it by performance on the court. Even if the retail price is way higher than other comparable shoes like the Zoom Freak 4 or Luka 1 you can find it on sale nowadays for a much better price and get an even better value from your purchase.

Update: In August 2023 the next model from this line, the Air Jordan 38 was released.
