The Zoom Separate is one of the latest basketball shoes from the Jordan brand that we will review in this article. It was released in 2021 and it was inspired from Maverick’s player Luka Doncic style of play, being endorsed and often worn by the NBA superstar. Later on in 2021 the NBA got his own signature from the brand, Luka 1. The Jordan Zoom Separate is a performance shoe at a very affordable price which made it a favorite of many basketball players around the world.
From the plethora of colorways released in the past year we chose the one in black, white with multicolor sole. Out of the box the shoes fit great from the get go and they fit true to size. They are lightweight, stylish and surely court ready.
The upper of the Jordan Zoom Separate features a mix of textile and synthetic materials distributed so they provide the right support and breathability on the court. The upper materials are connected with the latest, seamless technology that makes the shoe have a sock like fit. While the toebox area is made of a thin, flexible, textile material, the rest of the shoe is made of thin synthetic materials that have been designed to hug the feet in a secure fit. The lacing system that is rather unconventional has a big role in creating this snug fit by the way it was designed. There is minimal cushioning in the tongue while the ankle collar compensates with plenty of it. There is minimal branding , with the small Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel.
The sole unit is made of exposed Phylon foam with a Zoom unit in the forefoot. It is designed with the latest Nike technology and the player’s needs in mind. The Phylon foam feels soft on the outside but it gets even softer in its inner core, with its density being distributed support to tension points during play. The Zoom unit in the forefront is a signature for Nike’s basketball shoes, being placed so it will help players with speed and agility. Given the above, what we noticed during this Nike Zoom Separate review is that this is a great basketball shoe for point guards. Heavier players may want to look into some other sneakers that offer more support. The outsole has an elaborate pattern where the Zoom area in the forefront is marked by an oval area with a different pattern than the ripple-like design around it. It looks cool but more importantly it adds great traction on all surfaces, not just on a clean, indoor court.
All in all , this is a basketball shoe that offers a great value at only $110. Equipped with some of the latest technology from the Jordan brand, this is a pair any player of any level should consider getting. To conclude this Jordan Zoom Separate review, this is a sneaker that you can rock on and off the court, even if it’s mostly designed for the latter. There are several colorways available and given the success of the shoe, we would not be surprised to see a sequel soon. Check out the Jordan size chart if you’re not sure about your size.
