Overview
This week we crossed paths with a pair of Nike Air Max Cirro slides so we had to check them out and write a short review. With the release of the adidas Yeezy slide in 2019 a new trend was born and the Nike brand had to get involved. In the past few years they released slide versions of their classic sneakers Nike Air Max 90, Air Max 1 and the Nike Air Uptempo, among some more modern designs. However, since not everyone is willing to spend $90 on a pair of slide sandals they had to come up with a more budget friendly shoe. This is where the Nike Air Max Cirro slide comes in, a stylish model that retails at just $54. With a name that alludes to high clouds the slide does just that in terms of comfort with the help of a visible Air Max unit in the heel and a soft foam bed. The pair we got is the silver, black and red one that came in a typical red Nike box. They look very stylish out of the box, comfortable and lightweight. Size 11 weighs about 9 oz which is pretty good given the Air unit.
How They Fit
The Nike Air Max Cirro slides come only in full sizes. If you are between sizes it’s best to go down half a size, that worked best for me. They also feel a bit snug and the strap is not adjustable so those with wide feet may have to get a bigger size. Despite being very soft and comfortable they need a bit of break in to get even better, especially if you use them for longer walks. For a comprehensive Nike sizing you can check out this size chart.
Materials & Tech
The Nike Air Max Cirro slide features a synthetic strap that is not adjustable but it’s heavily padded on the interior so it has some room to mold on your feet. Those with wider feet may feel these being too snug, however. The sole unit is quite flat, with a cradled design on the interior that helps to keep them from sliding off your feet. I wore these around the house for the review and they felt pretty slippery indoors as they have the same EVA foam on the bottom as well without much traction. Outdoors they felt much better in this regard.
The visible Air Max sole is not just there for the aesthetics. It provides a nice, subtle bounce with every step that makes a nice transition to the soft foam foot bed. They provide excellent comfort and support for long hours, they clearly were designed to be more than just a pair to take at the beach.
Bottom Line
To wrap up my short Nike Air Max Cirro review, these are probably the best fashion slides at this price range on the market. They are the type of slides that especially sneakerheads will appreciate fully, given their Air Max heritage. They have an overall classic design that combines comfort with retro elements and I can say that at this price they offer a great value. I only tested these for a few days so I cannot attest to their durability but they seem pretty solid and well made so I am sure they will last.
