Nike have been a champion in celebrating its heritage with USA flag colors being featured on special edition collections like Americana & Team USA. For years now the beginning of the summer coincides with new releases of sneakers in white red and blue, just in time to get a pair by the Independence Day on July 4th. Usually the brand comes up with a mix of classic and new styles that always look fresh in this colorway. Similar to the Americana series is the Team USA collection that is more scarce. Usually, the latter is making a comeback when a ,major tournament like the Olympics is taking place. For the Team USA series Nike usually focuses on basketball shoes, often on the latest styles that offer the best performance so they can be worn on the court by the NBA players while representing their country. Jordan, Kyrie, KD and LeBron are just a few examples of series that have a Team USA edition every four years or so.

2020

The Nike Americana lineup for 2020 follows the same path as in the previous years, relaying heavily on classics like the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus and Presto. Two pairs of more recent styles -the Air Max 270 and the Vapormax Flyknit 3- were added for those that prefer the latest technology from the brand. The Air Max 97 is a favorite for me for its looks but the ever popular Air Force 1 Low wins once again for its overall value, style and comfort. With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics cancelled for the year it looks like the brand may take a break this year with the Team USA series but surely the Americana collection makes up for it.
