The Adidas Seeley is up for a review this week, being one of the several skate shoes we’ve taken a look at this month. This model was released in 2011, being one of the oldest skate shoes from the brand. It is a shoe known for its classic, minimalistic design that was inspired by Adidas‘s heritage in skateboarding and street culture. Its design makes it great for everyday casual wear as well as for skateboarding combining style and functionality. For the past decade this shoe has been a constant part of adidas skate shoes lineup, being released in countless versions and colorways, including the hemp ones we took a look at a while ago. In 2023 the brand came up with the XT version which features a thicker sole unit.

How They Fit

The Adidas Seeley generally runs true to size but due to their elongated toe cap design some may find that it runs a bit large. If you like a snug fit which is the norm for a skate shoe usually going half a size small may work better for you. Depending on the upper materials these may need a bit of break in period , also when considering the vulcanized sole.

Upper

The Adidas Seeley comes in several versions with an upper made of mesh, suede or even hemp in some rare occasions. The forefront area is elongated which makes it roomy for even those with wider feet. The textile versions are quite breathable and very comfortable as you try them on. The lacing system is located higher on your feet, providing a good lockdown and adds to the flexibility of the shoe overall. There is minimal padding in the heel area with a thin tongue for basic cushioning. Overall, what we noticed while doing this adidas Seeley review was how the design stays true to the brand classic shoes simplicity even if this shoe is intended to be a skate shoe.

Sole Unit

The sole unit of the Adidas Seeley is vulcanized with minimal cushioning provided mostly by the not-removable EVA insert. It is a setup similar to what Vans have and the comfort provided is about the same. It provides an overall excellent board feel for skateboarders, with a flat design that delivers a good connection with your skateboard. The outsole is grippy while some may annoy you with its squeaky noise sometimes. The herringbone outsole pattern tends to wear out after a few months but overall it is pretty durable.

Bottom Line

To conclude our adidas Seeley review this is an excellent everyday shoe, especially for those interested in skateboarding. At $65 retail price it provides a great value, being a versatile pair that you can wear at school, while hanging out with your friends or at the skatepark. In many ways it is a similar shoe with the adidas Daily 3.0 that we’ve taken a look at recently. It is a simple, durable shoe that you can pair with jeans, shorts or even khakis.
