The adidas Boost technology was introduced in early 2013, revolutionizing the footwear market and bring a much needed improvement to running shoes and beyond. For decades, the overwhelming majority of running shoes on the market across all brands have been based on decades-old EVA technology which has served the purpose of athleticism quite well over the years. However, the need for more responsive cushioning, energy return and unmatched comfort led Adidas developers to TPU, a foam-like material with a responsive springiness and thermal regulating properties that promised much. Since its debut, the material seems to have lived up to the hype, with a number of top athletes upping their game while wearing adidas Boost shoes, and many others falling in love with its superior comfort and fit. Since its release there have numerous adidas Boost shoes styles, the most prominent being the UltraBoost running shoes, the NMD and the Yeezy Boost.
