The Air Jordan 3 (III) was released in 1988, becoming over time one of the most popular of the series. Its release came at a time when Michael Jordan was considering leaving Nike and explore new opportunities. However, it seems that among other factors, the way the Air Jordan 3 turned up was a deciding factor to stay. For the first time the designer was Tinker Hatfield who brought some new elements such as the elephant print, The Jumpman logo and the visible Air unit, a first for the Air Jordan series. The sneaker was first released in four colorways, in black, white, red and blue. Michael Jordan famously wore the Air Jordan 3 black/cement pair at the All Star Game that took place in Chicago where he took flight from the free throw line to win the Slam Dunk contest.Among the most popular versions, the white cement and black cement stand out.
